There has been another exciting improvement at Bilibong, the home of 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group, with our main hall receiving a fantastic new floor.

Anyone who regularly uses Bilibong will know just how much punishment our hall floor receives. Week after week it supports Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, along with volunteers, meetings, games, activities, community events and countless Scouting adventures. After many years of service, the old flooring had certainly earned its retirement!

The project involved much more than simply laying a new covering. As the photographs show, the old flooring was stripped back and the hall carefully prepared before the new flooring could be installed. The transformation from the worn old surface to the finished floor is quite remarkable.

From the preparation through to the finished installation, their workmanship has helped completely transform our hall. The new flooring gives Bilibong a much cleaner, brighter and more modern appearance while, importantly, providing a practical surface ready to cope with the demands of a busy Scout Group.

💙 Investing in Bilibong’s future

As 1st Westgate-on-Sea celebrates its Centenary in 2026, improvements such as this are particularly special. Bilibong has been at the heart of our Group for generations, and maintaining and improving our headquarters is essential if it is going to continue serving young people for many more years to come.

The difference is fantastic – and seeing the hall empty with its new floor really shows just how much the work has transformed the space.

Of course, we don’t expect it to stay looking quite this pristine for long! A Scout HQ floor is there to be used, and before long it will once again be filled with young people playing games, learning new skills, earning badges, making friends and having adventures.
