Trustee Board Member

1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group seeks passionate and dedicated individuals to join its Trustee Board. As a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the Group’s legal and financial well-being, ensuring sustainable growth, and enriching the lives of young people for generations to come.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance and Oversight:
- Share responsibility for ensuring the Group’s adherence to its governing documents, charitable objects, and legal duties.
- Provide strategic direction and support to the Group Leader and Executive Committee.
- Participate in regular board meetings, actively contributing to discussions and decision-making.
- Monitor the Group’s performance against objectives and hold leadership accountable.
- Ensure responsible risk management and compliance with relevant regulations.
Financial Stewardship:
- Review and approve the Group’s budget and financial reports.
- Oversee fundraising activities and grant applications.
- Provide guidance on investments and financial policies.
- Safeguard the Group’s assets and resources.
Leadership and Development:
- Support the recruitment and development of other Trustees.
- Promote the Group’s mission and values within the community.
- Act as an ambassador for Scouting and engage in networking opportunities.
- Contribute to building and maintaining a positive and collaborative culture within the board.
Skills and Qualities:
- Strong commitment to the principles and values of Scouting.
- Experience in governance, business, finance, or law (desirable, not essential).
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and provide constructive feedback.
- Integrity, objectivity, and sound judgment.
- A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
Time Commitment:
Board meetings are typically held quarterly, with additional time commitment required for reviewing materials and attending occasional special events. We appreciate any level of engagement you can offer.
