This year marks an incredible milestone for 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group as we proudly celebrate our 100th Birthday! 🥳⚜️
For an entire century, generations of young people have been part of our Group – making friends, learning Skills for Life, camping under the stars, sitting around campfires, taking on challenges and creating memories that can last a lifetime.
To commemorate this very special chapter in our history, we are delighted to introduce our official 1st Westgate-on-Sea Centenary Badge!
🏕️ A Badge Designed to Celebrate Our Story
Our Centenary Badge proudly carries the dates 1926–2026, marking 100 amazing years of Scouting in Westgate-on-Sea.
The design captures everything we love about Scouting: camping, adventure, the outdoors and, of course, the campfire! At its heart is the Scout fleur-de-lis, representing the worldwide Scouting family that we are so proud to be part of.
Throughout our Centenary celebrations, the badge will become a special symbol of this once-in-a-lifetime year for our Group.
For our current Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Adult Volunteers, it is a chance to say:
“I was there when 1st Westgate-on-Sea turned 100!”

Just imagine how much has changed since our Group first began in 1926. Yet the heart of Scouting remains the same: giving young people opportunities to have fun, experience adventure, develop confidence, learn new skills and become part of something special.
Our Centenary isn’t simply about looking back at the last 100 years. It’s about celebrating today and looking forward to the adventures still to come.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who has played a part in the story of 1st Westgate-on-Sea – the thousands of young people who have passed through our sections, the generations of volunteers who have given their time, and the families and local community who have supported us along the way.
