Westgate-on-Sea Cub Scouts Embark on Exciting Adventure at Hornby’s Wonderworks

In a thrilling excursion filled with learning and excitement, the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Cub Scouts recently embarked on a memorable trip to Hornby’s Wonderworks to complete their Hobbies activity badge. Led by their dedicated Akela and enthusiastic leaders, the Cubs delved into a world of creativity and discovery, exploring the fascinating realm of model trains and miniature marvels.

Nestled within the historic town of Ramsgate, Hornby’s Wonderworks provided the perfect backdrop for the Cubs to unleash their imaginations and indulge in their passion for hobbies. From intricate train sets to detailed dioramas, the Scouts were captivated by the intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail on display.

Under the guidance of their mentors, the Cubs eagerly participated in hands-on activities and interactive exhibits, gaining valuable insights into the world of model making and railway engineering. From assembling miniature landscapes to operating model trains, each activity offered a unique opportunity for the Cubs to hone their skills and expand their horizons.

As the day drew to a close, the Cubs bid farewell to Hornby’s Wonderworks with a newfound appreciation for the art of model making and a sense of accomplishment in completing their Hobbies activity badge. With memories made and skills learned, the Scouts returned home with hearts full of joy and minds buzzing with inspiration.

But the excitement didn’t end there. As the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Cub Scouts celebrated their successful outing, they also bid farewell to five beloved members – Henry, Ella, Poppy, Natalie, and Edie – who were transitioning to their next Scouting adventure as they embarked on their journey into Scouts.

In a touching ceremony, Akela and the leaders congratulated the departing Cubs on their achievements and presented them with the prestigious Scouts Chief Scout Silver Award. Henry, Ella, Poppy, Natalie, and Edie were lauded for their hard work, dedication, and exemplary commitment to the Scout Promise and Law.

Reflecting on their time with the Cubs, Akela expressed immense pride in the growth and accomplishments of each departing member. “They have all worked so hard and come so far in their own unique ways,” Akela remarked. “Their journey in Cubs has been nothing short of inspiring, and we have no doubt that they will continue to shine brightly in their new Scouting endeavors.”

As Henry, Ella, Poppy, Natalie, and Edie embarked on their new Scouting challenge, they carried with them the lessons learned, friendships forged, and memories cherished during their time with the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Cub Scouts. With hearts full of gratitude and excitement, they set sail on the next chapter of their Scouting journey, ready to embrace new adventures and make a lasting impact in the world around them.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
