Scouts at the Panto!

Date: 26th Jan 2024 Author: Rhys Hughes

As our final event to end the 2023 scouting year, 1st Westgate on Sea Scout Group had the pleasure of visiting The Malthouse Theatre in Canterbury to attend this year’s spectacular panto, Snow White.

After a pleasant coach journey from Margate, we arrived at the Malthouse (Canterbury), ready to enjoy an afternoon of laughter, song, and excitement. With a cast made up of professional performers, all of whom had played roles in the West End in the past, this year’s panto didn’t disappoint! All our scouts, from the youngest to the oldest, enjoyed joining in, shouting, and playing their part in encouraging the performers – it was a truly special occasion.

This year was our 2nd year of visiting the Malthouse for Panto and we were pleased to be joined by some of our youngest and oldest scouts, with representatives of the Squirrels and Scouts attending. As part of the afternoon, each scout enjoyed an interval ice cream and received a seasonal camp blanket badge to help them remember the day.

After the confetti cannons banged and the curtain closed, there was one final treat in the form of a photo on stage with the cast – a wonderful way to end our afternoon and a chance for a brilliant memory to be made with all of us (leaders and all) enjoying the chance to step on stage.

Huge thank you to the staff at The Malthouse for making our visit extra special, and a massive thank you to the cast and crew of Snow White for a brilliant performance and for playing their part in giving our Scouts a memory to last a lifetime.

See you next year for Peter Pan?
