Festive Cheer as Costa Coffee Donates £1,000 to 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group
This Christmas, the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group received an incredible gift of £1,000 from Costa Coffee, thanks to a nomination from the team at Costa Coffee Thanet Drive Thru.
This generous donation will go a long way in supporting the group’s activities and ensuring young people in the community continue to thrive through Scouting. The funds will help purchase essential equipment, support adventure-filled trips, and enhance the group’s meeting space, making it a welcoming and resourceful hub for Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and their dedicated leaders. This festive act of kindness is a shining example of how businesses and community groups can unite to support the next generation.
The donation, which was given by Costa Coffee, via its Community Grant Programme, couldn’t have come at a better time, as the Scouts gear up for a packed 2025 calendar filled with exciting events and adventures. From camping trips to community projects, the funds will ensure the group can continue to offer enriching experiences that shape young lives.
Deputy Group Scout Leader (Akela), Gavin Wallis, expressed his heartfelt gratitude: “We are over the moon with this amazing donation from Costa Coffee. It’s not just about the money—it’s about the support and recognition of the impact we make in young people’s lives. This funding will help us create even more opportunities for adventure, learning, and community engagement.”
The festive spirit was alive and well at the Thanet Drive Thru, where store manager Eric shared his enthusiasm for supporting the group. He said: “We are thrilled to extend our support this Christmas to the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group.
