1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group Shines at Thanet District Scouts St. George’s Day Celebrations

The vibrant spirit of scouting was on full display as the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group made their mark at the Thanet District Scouts St. George’s Day Celebrations held at Dreamland, Margate. With Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and dedicated adult volunteers in attendance, the group showcased their enthusiasm and commitment to the scouting movement.

As one of the largest groups in the Thanet District, it was an honor for the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scouts to present their sections to both the district and the wider community of Thanet. The young participants, along with the adult volunteers, impressed everyone with their smart appearance and exemplary conduct throughout the event.

“We are incredibly proud of each and every member of our group,” expressed the group leadership team. “Their impeccable attire, polite demeanor, and considerate behavior truly reflect the values of scouting. It was heartening to see them represent our group with such distinction.”

The St. George’s Day Celebrations provided an opportunity for the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Scout Group to not only celebrate their achievements but also to strengthen bonds within the scouting community. The event served as a reminder of the positive impact scouting has on young people, instilling values of leadership, teamwork, and community service.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
